Let’s Get to Know Each Other Blogger Tag!

Hello friends! This week’s post is quite different- I’ve been Blogger Tagged, which means I was nominated by a fellow blogger to answer some questions of their choosing as a fun way to network with and get to know others, particular other relative newbies, in the Blogosphere (don’t worry- I didn’t know what a Blogger Tag was before either!)

I’ve been nominated by Kala (@Kala_Mari3 on Twitter) who’s the writer of the fun blog at www.cookdrinkdecorate.com. She’s Ohio based, and blogs about her experiences as a first time home owner, her new puppy and other stuff she’s interested, like cooking. Thanks for the tag Kala- and sorry for taking forever and a day to respond; things have been a tad hectic around here (by the way, you give me serious website goals!).

First off, I need to state what the rules are for this blogger tag:

Answer the 11 questions that your nominator has asked you (thanks for giving me some leeway here Kala! I’m going to answer most.)

  • Nominate 11 other bloggers (with under 200 followers)
  • Ask your nominees 11 questions.
  • Let them know that you have nominated them!

Ok, so without further ado…Here are my answers to Kala’s questions:

What’s the best thing that’s happened to you this week?

Hmmm….that’s tough, because so much has happened, and I try to appreciate even the little things! So, first off, I spent quite a bit of time linking with other bloggers on social media, and I feel like I’m making really cool connections! Plus, I’m super thankful that the weather this week has been absolutely brilliant- a real 180 degree change from last week!

What is the best praise or advice you’ve received?

The best advice I’ve received was probably from both my mom and my husband, who always say that one should always keep learning- to never be satisfied with what I know now, but keep being curious and learning new things.

What flavor ice cream would you be?

This one’s a toss-up between mango (which just reminds me so much of home) and triple fudge chocolate (well, that needs no explanation!)

If you could invite five famous or noted people (past or present) to dinner who would you choose?

I’d invite Jeannette Walls- because her book The Glass Castle is one of my favourite books ever. She lived through such an epic childhood and overcame her circumstances so remarkably that I’d love to hear more about how she did it.

I’d also invite Michelle Obama, (just because I think she rocks as an individual and looks like tons of fun to hang out with); my countryman Usain Bolt (because I’d love some of his strength & determination to rub off on me!); Prince (he has such a fascinating story and it would be amazing to hear more) and finally, Julia Roberts (she’s long been one of my favourite actresses, and I feel like we could be real life friends, haha).

What is your favorite TV show and why?

Tricky to answer this one, because I’m a girl of many interests and rarely stick to one kind of show. But let’s see… I really loved Parks and Recreation and The Office because I love comedies and the characters just made them so fun to watch. I also like period series and foreign language ones, like I was addicted to Grand Hotel and am now loving El Ministerio del Tiempo.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?

I’m a pretty adventurous eater, but still can’t really think of a weird food as such that I’ve tried. I mean, being from Jamaica, there’s probably lots that we eat that others would consider quite weird. For example, a fruit called ackee, which is part of our national dish. It’s not sweet, as you might think, and has a divinely creamy texture that when cooked with fish or meat is delectable. We also eat basically every part of some animals, for example, the entire head of goats in soups (it wouldn’t be totally surprising to find even the eyeball floating in your bowl!)

If you had to describe yourself using three words, it would be…

Cheerful, adventurous and sensitive.

What was the worst job you have ever had?

Probably the first summer job I ever had when I was 14, when I had the mind-numbing task of shredding what felt like tons of paper in a company’s window-less basement, day after day. Pretty sad use of a summer really.

What’s the last search in your Google history?

Sorry, nothing exciting. My sis is coming to visit, so I was looking up currency exchange rates for her. (So stoked she’s finally coming to see me though- haven’t seen her in nearly 2 years!).

If you were to create a slogan for your life, what would it be?

Smile, love, learn, be kind and just enjoy life.

Great questions Kala! I really had to think there. Ok, now nomination time, which is also going to be challenging, because truth be told, I’m only just breaking out into the Twitter world and I’m not following all that many yet (the converse is also true- I don’t have that many followers on Twitter either. Find me on Twitter @lifebycyndi and lets be buds!)

Without further ado, here’s are my chosen victims, erhmm…I mean blogger pals. I’m tagging:
